History:
Vicco takes its name, like many other former coal camps and towns, from the coal company that established the town: Virginia Iron Coal and Coke Company. The town still exists today, and it should be noted that in 2013, it became the smallest municipality in the United States to adopt a town ordinance banning discrimination based on sexual orientation:
